Just kidding! Guns down people. Do you remember lip smacker lip gloss that you gave up on 5 years ago because it dried out your lips? You probably went on to greener pastures to buy from Sephora and cosmetics retailers like Macy’s. You are no longer a dollar lipgloss gal. You feel justified with your $20 dollar ‘pucker up softness’ because no guy could ever accuse you of crocrodile kissers.
Well last week I bought lip smackers and no, its no longer $1, its $1.99. I bought it for the scent and the taste (Melon and raspberry) but I was pleasantly surprised by the softness and I dont mean soft lips for 2 minutes, I mean super succulent, tasty lips for 3 plus hours. I had this kind of discovery in many other areas, that is, things I gave up on, now improved to compete with more expensive brands. For example, in times past you could only find decent work jackets at an Ann Taylor or Macy’s but if you visit a Charlotte Russe or Forever 21, they improved their cut and fit so that you could obtain the same garment for a fraction of the price.
My point is that, any store you dropped from your shopping rotation because it was cheap, and not up to your level, you should go back, because you will be pleasantly surprised. You can shop with abandon at any of these stores. You just need to know what to buy and where to buy them. I stopped by conway today to check out the clothes and I found it hilarious that all the dresses and jackets were straight from the European style forecast, or in other words copies of the work of famous designers. Please dont think that famous designers dont copy and that their work must be reverred lol, nothing is original. I permit you to revisit stores of your past, save your money. Here are some tips for shopping.
1. Know where to get what – Schedule leggings, sock purchase, tights etc for stores like Charlotte Russe.
2. Decide ahead of time what you are willing to spend on. I will not in this life time spend the extra on dresses. You can find every dress style you could ever want in your closet at inexpensive stores. Stores have so many creative dresses that you are guaranteed to find what you are looking for less money. I reserve extra cash for shoes. Because of my size feet, I can never be cheap with shoes lol. I am fored to buy exquisite, comfortable shoes.
3. Shop more often. Dont go into a store when you need to buy something, eye shop often and buy when you see a bargain or a style you want to add to your collection. I never wear a new dress to an event anyway. This is because I have to be sure that what I am wearing is tried and true meaning, I feel more confident at public events if I wear something I’ve been complimented on in the past. Go eye shopping. Its fun and sometimes you find perfect garments when you are not looking to buy.
